Events At the LEPC meeting (Local Emergency Planning Committee) Monday night a couple of upcoming events were announced. March 4 CPR refresher March 11 Hazmat refresher March 18 First aid refresher The refresher courses are for those who have taken the course and have to get the annual recertification. We will be taking CPR and first aid as a group on Feb 7. If you want to take the refresher a month later, that is fine. Please note that which refresher is done on which Wednesday night is subject to change, but it will be firmed up well before March. As for the Hazmat Awareness course, there will be one offered this spring in the Islands. Remember that these courses will be required CERT training in the future (along with the Flagger Course). If you are interested there is a joint So. Hero – Grand Isle fire department training on Tues Dec 9 at the GI Fire Station. I’ve started to go to these. Last month the exercise was filling the portable pond with the tankers and transferring water to the pumper engines. Mainly I am just an observer now, but if they see CERT there, the mental connection takes place. January 17 (Shelter Management), Feb 7 (First Aid & CPR), and March 14 (joint exercise with FC-CERT and Red Cross).
